ALLYSHIP

Through reflection, learning, and discussion, our team has been examining our practices and role in supporting diversity and inclusion in both our company and the greater community. We want you to know that we support the Black Lives Matter organization and are committed to an anti-racist future. We stand with the Black community and will not be silent. Systemic racism must end, and we understand this takes a lasting allyship and commitment.

It is more important than ever to encourage and facilitate conversations about race. As SLPs we teach the language necessary for these discussions. We work with clients of all different racial groups, and yet minorities and persons of color are greatly underrepresented as clinicians. Our team is taking the steps to act as mentors for future SLPs of color. 
 

We are also proud supporters of LGBTQIA+ rights and believe that "love is love". We have the privilege of working with clients and families who are part of the LGBTQIA+ community, and are excited by the paradigm shift in which this love, identity and family structure are viewed and accepted as another expression of normal. There is still work to do, and we stand with the LGBTQIA+ community in their fight for equal rights.

Financial support to appropriate organizations is crucial. Thus, we will make a monthly donation to an educational organization dedicated to serving Black and other minority children and LGBTQIA+ families. We are supporting the Oak Park Festival Theatre in December 2021. Here are the organizations we have supported in previous months.
